Usually Oxymetholone is marketed as Anapolon and is mostly known in the fitness community as Anadrol, another brand name. Anadrol has a reputation for being a very powerful oral anabolic steroid that builds mass and strength. However, it is associated with a number of very strong side effects.

History and medicinal uses

Like most anabolic steroids abused by bodybuilders today, Anadrol was originally used in medicine. In fact, Zoltan Pharmaceuticals developed oxymetholone in 1960 to combat osteoporosis (bone disease) and anemia (a reduced amount of red blood cells). Interestingly, other pharmaceutical companies such as Syntex and Park Davis also developed oxymetholone under the trade names anadrol50 and androyd.

In addition, Anapolon has also served well in combating muscle wasting problems in malnourished or underdeveloped people. However, the main problem with using Anadrol for these purposes was its strong side effects: too androgenic for women, pronounced liver toxicity and suppression of the male reproductive system (HPTA). Due to all these problems, Anadrol was therefore exchanged for safer medications for these diseases.

Despite this, some people in the HIV and AIDS community today still rely on Anadrol as a cheap alternative to more expensive medical treatments. In the US, it is a Schedule III drug, making it illegal to possess without a prescription.

Anabolic and androgenic ratio

Anadrol has an anabolic androgenic ratio of 320:45. On paper, this means that it is three times as anabolic as testosterone and half as androgenic. Nevertheless, you must keep in mind that these ratios can be misleading when translated into real results. For example, in theory, Anadrol does not aromatize into estrogen, but it does cause estrogenic problems, which we will discuss later in this profile. Additionally, anyone who has used Anadrol will not agree that it is less androgenic than testosterone and other anabolic steroids.

Compound types and esters

Anadrol comes exclusively in oral form and each pill was originally dosed at 50 milligrams (mg). Therefore, most underground labs still sell Anadrol in 50 mg tablets, but I have seen some use 25 mg as well. Because oxymetholone is taken orally, it does not stay in the body for very long, which is not the case with esterified injectable steroids, which have been in the system for weeks.

Anadrol has a chemical name 17βHydroxy2 (hydroxymethylene) 17methyl5αandrostan3one. The amazing thing about this compound is that it is a dihydrotestosterone (DHT) derivative with an additional 2hydroxymethylene group, making it extremely anabolic.

In general, Anadrol works like all anabolic steroids in that it promotes the increase in body mass, increase in strength and improvement in protein synthesis (which is particularly pronounced if the person consumes enough calories and protein).

In addition, the number of red blood cells is important for athletes. This is why you see endurance athletes being treated with blood extracting good blood from their system and injecting it back before competition. However, those who suffer from low red blood cells (RBC) are considered anemic. Dihydrotestosterone (DHT)

It may shock many who have used Anadrol to know that it is actually a DHT derivative (dihydrotestosterone). The shocking part of this, however, is that users report an increase in estrogenic problems such as bloating and gynecomastia (bitch tits). How does this happen? The explanation is simple: Despite the fact that Anadrol is a DHT compound and therefore cannot aromatize to estrogen, in most cases it can and will disrupt estrogen metabolism, thereby increasing estrogen levels.

Dosages

Detection times

Of all the major oral anabolic steroids, Anapolon is a poor choice for tested athletes as the detection time is a whopping 2 months. In many situations, athletes have even tested positive between 23 months old.

Side effects

Anadrol has a structural change at the 17th carbon position that prevents it from being destroyed by the liver. By definition it is a C17alphaalkylated oral preparation. Unfortunately, this means that this oral steroid is toxic to the liver and that appropriate liver support supplements such as N2Guard should be taken along with this steroid.

As mentioned above, Anadrol is unable to aromatize estrogen, but does interfere with estrogen metabolism. This leads to a variety of estrogenic side effects such as an increase in blood pressure, water retention, gynecomastia and insomnia. Therefore, it is best not to stack it with other flavoring compounds.

In terms of androgenic issues with Anadrol, it is far more androgenic than on paper, so androgenic side effects such as aggression and irritability are also possible. In addition, cholesterol levels are tense, good cholesterol decreases and bad cholesterol increases. Therefore, a supplement like N2guard would be very helpful in limiting these side effects.

However, keep in mind that when Anadrol is combined with other aromatizing compounds, the estrogenic side effects are very strong. Therefore, use a high-quality aromatase inhibitor. A classic Anadrol stack for size and mass would be 50 mg per day along with 500 mg of testosterone per week.
