Anavar is the most popular brand name of the drug Oxandrolone, which is an oral anabolic steroid. Despite being considered a weak steroid, many in the bodybuilding community do not know how to properly use this compound nor do they have all of its powerful benefits.

History

Anavar was first introduced in the United States in the early 1960s when it was synthesized by a major pharmaceutical company Pfizer. In fact, according to this article, Pfizer had a market capitalization of almost $200 billion, making it the largest publicly traded drug company in the world.

In terms of its use, oxandrolone was originally prescribed to promote muscle growth in patients with muscle wasting disorders, and today it is part of the treatment of some HIV/AIDS patients.

Interestingly, athletes and bodybuilders began abusing it in the late 80s because they wanted to take advantage of Anavar’s ability to improve muscle growth. Unfortunately, this resulted in Anavar being discontinued by Pfizer and picked up by Savient Pharmaceuticals, who then used the trade name Oxandrin. As a result, the FDA later approved its use for more medical purposes; including hepatitis, HIV-related weight loss and Turner syndrome. In addition, it is also considered helpful in anemia and can balance protein catabolism caused by corticosteroid abuse.

Anabolic and androgenic ratio

Theoretically, Anavar is very anabolic and not very androgenic, the ratio is 450 anabolic to only 24 androgenic. Although these ratios on paper do not always translate to real life, in this case it is a fairly accurate description based on what we know about this steroid from practical use.

Administration

Anavar is an oral anabolic steroid, so it is taken orally and swallowed. In fact, there are some who have attempted to produce it as a liquid to be injected in a suspension form, but injectable forms of Anavar are extremely rare.

How it works

Anavar is a DHT derivative (dihydrotestosterone) that has an additional atom replacing carbon 2 in the AR ring, increasing anabolic activity and also preventing any metabolic degradation. This anabolic activity creates an environment for preventing muscle loss that not only provides tremendous medical benefits but can also be used by bodybuilders to achieve anabolic results of hard, vascular and dry muscle mass.

It is also able to avoid destruction by the liver because it has a methyl group addition, making it a 17aalkylated (17aa) compound, and therefore it is liver toxic. Because Anavar is so mild, many bodybuilders and strength athletes don’t understand that they won’t gain a ton of mass quickly, and therefore tend to overdose on this compound unnecessarily. The correct dosage for men is typically 4060 milligrams (mg) per day, and some users dispense up to 100 mg per day. I have read that some bodybuilders consume even more (up to 200 mg per day), which is insulting and completely unreasonable.

In addition, you should not take Anavar for a long period of time due to the fact that it is liver toxic. However, it is less liver toxic than other oral anabolic steroids, allowing us to be more liberal with our cycle length. Therefore, you can run Anavar for 4 to 8 weeks with good results.

Half-life

The half-life for Anavar is stated to be 9 hours. It is important to remember that half-life does not mean how long it is in your system, but rather that after 9 hours, half of the dose still remains in your body. As a result, Anavar can easily be administered twice daily.

Detection times

The detection time for those tested for performance enhancing drugs is 3 weeks with Anavar, which is fairly common for other steroids in its class. Side effects

In addition, Anavar is known for the wonderful muscle pumps that come with it. These pumps can be felt as all the blood is pushed into the muscles, causing them to swell and expand the fascia layer.

Still, it can also be bad if they go against your goals. In fact, high doses of Anavar can cause pumps to relapse. If you try to run on them, you’ll probably get lower leg pumps in your calves or shins. Taking taurine and potassium can relieve pumps. It is therefore recommended to do this while using Anavar.

User results

When used correctly, Anavar is a tremendous anabolic steroid, but it is not for everyone. If you’re looking to pack 15 pounds of mass quickly then it’s not for you at all. It’s more for those who want to add more strength and a few pounds of pure muscle slowly. I have found that Anavar is underrated in terms of strength gains compared to the amount of mass you put on.

For those who are more “body” oriented, Anavar can be used to harden and become more vascular. Working out in the gym can be fun because of the rock hard pumps and increased strength on Anavar.

Stacking

Anavar should be stacked to get the most out of it as it binds well to SHBG, making the other steroids in the stack work even better. Since it’s so mild, it might be a good idea to stack it with something androgenic like trenbolone or testosterone.

Oral Anavar stacking is usually done with Winstrol or TBOL. They stack well together, usually with 40 mg of Anavar per day and 50 mg of Winstrol per day.

Cost and ease of access

Nevertheless, it is important to use a solid source as the Anavar can be adulterated with Dianabol instead, which can be disastrous for a woman who may end up with virilization problems such as enlarged clitoris or increased body hair growth.
