History

Nandrolone phenylpropionate was actually the first nandrolone compound sold by Organon in the 1950s. However, it was quickly pushed out of the way by its big brother deca durabolin and pushed under the rug in the bodybuilding community for many years. The reason for this was that injecting steroids was considered taboo in those days when heroin came onto the scene and you were viewed as a junkie by your colleagues if you injected something. Consequently, something like Nandrolone Phenylpropionate, which had to be injected more frequently than DecaDurabolin, would not be an ideal compound.

Medical use

In addition, the medical community also chose the longer ester. In fact, this is a very beneficial class of steroids for medical use because in clinical trials nandrolone has been shown to be helpful in anemia and osteoporosis and may additionally act as a progestin-based contraceptive.
